Fix for MagicDisc driver mcdbus.inf not signed

To get mcdbus to install on Windows 8 and below (all systems, x86 and x64)

Windows prevents the installation of drivers that are not Digitally Signed as a security measure. Since MagicDisc is freeware and they have not signed the driver, you must turn off driver signature enforcement and restart.

Right click on Command Prompt and choose "Run as Administrator"
Copy and paste or type these lines one at a time, hitting Enter after each line:

    bcdedit -set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
    bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING ON

 Restart the computer.

If you have not already downloaded and installed MagicDisc, do so before proceeding from here.

Run Regedit and go to HKLM\LocalMachine\CurrentControlSet\services\ and right click on services folder, choose New -> String and name it mcdbus and click OK.

Download this zip file and extract contents. Open the folder where you extracted the files. Copy the mcdbus.inf file and paste it into these two folder locations:

    C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository
    C:\windows\inf

Then go back to extracted files and select all files and copy them to where MagicDisc program was installed. Click OK for Administrator permission prompts and to confirm Overwrite of files. Note: the default installation location on 64 bit Windows is c:\Program Files (x86)\MagicDisc and c:\Program Files\MagicDisc for 32 bit Windows

Go to Control Panel and open Device Manager

Click Action, Add Legacy hardware, and a Wizard will appear.

Click Next and then "Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced)" and then click Next

Scroll down and select Storage Controllers and then click Next

Click Have Disk and then click Browse

Navigate to where MagicDisc program was installed and open the folder and choose file "mcdbus.inf" and click Open and then click OK.

You will be prompted that the driver is unsigned, choose Install this driver anyway (not recommended)

Click Next twice and then click Finish.

You now have MagicDisc working properly. When I run the program it shows up in notification area with the icon displaying. Right click the icon and set the number of Virtual Disk Drives you want!

If you want to go through a bunch of work and digitally sign the driver for yourself, here is a link with step by step guide:
